As great parents who love nurturing their children, it is not surprising you feel guilty at the slightest misdemeanour when things don’t go to plan.
A lot of guilt-fuelled regrets occur after a moment of high-tension, conflicting moments – especially when you’re over-tired and over-worked!
The best way to break this frustrating, inevitable cycle, and prevent you from feeling guilty about the way you react to your child’s demands or tantrums, is to take some essential time out.
Unfortunately this too can lead to more guilt! Leaving your children to go and enjoy yourself can result in you feeling bewildered and upset, but having “you time” is a must in any mum’s schedule.
Giving yourself a treat, such as an hour in the gym, a night out with the girls, or a soak in a hot bubble bath, is not a sin! On the contrary, it will help you recharge your much-depleted batteries. This is an opportunity to re-motivate and re-energise yourself.
Being refreshed will help you to adopt a calmer approach to life, and help you give your children the attention they need during your time together.
Keeping motivated, calm and happy will help your family to react in the same way. This will create a peaceful household where you can all enjoy quality family time.
So, take care of yourself and become a guilt-free, invigorated mum!
